Discord is the newest and has quickly before the most popular voice and text chat system in use by both gamers and social groups.
Discords greatest feature is that its free! You can create a communitiy as large or small as you wish and offer hem text chat, voice communication and more with no cost.
As an MMO gamer I used Discord from the very beginning mainly because of its original slogan of being super lightweight especially on a PC's resources. Today Discord is used by a majority of the gaming community for voice and text communication, which MMO gamers have found to be very efficient and high quality.
One of its best features is its cross platform, you can have it on your PC, Mac, Android, iOS and even Linux.
Discords basic use doesn't even require a download, just give a used the address and hey can use Discord from their browser, although the Discord app is highly recommended.
Discord as of late has come to shiny as a platform for organising communities, as an Eve Online player my alliance uses discord to keep members informed of news, announcement and letting people know whats going on ingame in realtime. Useful when a major fleet is happing at 3am my phone will wake me up letting me know a fleets forming :)
